TVC Provides Free Wi-Fi to 'At The Park' Concert Series
Tech Valley Communications Provides Free Wi-Fi Service to At The Park Concert Attendees
ALBANY, N.Y. (June 1, 2005) To coincide with the Downtown Albany Business Improvement Districts (BID) AT THE PARK free lunchtime concert series, Tech Valley Communications is providing free Wi-Fi services to concert goers at the Ten Eyck Courtyard on North Pearl St., directly behind the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
According to Kevin OConnor, Tech Valley Communications chief executive officer, the firm is happy to support the Downtown BID in bringing more people into the downtown area with TVC Free. He also said the firms goal of expanding Internet access to as many locations as possible because of its vital importance in everyday life, work and play coincides well with the increased number of people that the concert series will bring into downtown Albany.
Tech Valley Communications creation of a hot spot at the courtyard will be permanent, launched with the kick off of the AT THE PARK series on June 1 but continuing indefinitely. When accessing the Internet from this location, users will be greeted by the Downtown Albany BIDs Web site, www.downtownalbany.org.
The arrival of Wi-Fi at this location is another step toward making downtown Albany the premier regional destination for tech-savvy professionals, said Pamela Tobin, executive director of the Downtown Albany BID. This permanent hot spot demonstrates not only TVCs continued support and commitment, but also demonstrates how successful partnerships are enhancing downtowns amenities and making the district a thriving hub of activity.
The 16-week AT THE PARK series offers live concerts by some of the areas most talented musicians. Performances, beginning on Wednesday, June 1, will be held every Wednesday through Sept. 14 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. (except for the final week of July, when the concert will take place on Thursday). The rain date for each concert is the Friday following the scheduled performance.
FYE and Citizens Bank are the title sponsors for the Downtown Albany BIDs 2005 AT THE PARK series. Other corporate sponsors are Albany Parking Authority; CDTA; Clough, Harbour & Associates; Einhorn Yaffee Prescott Architecture & Engineering; Price Chopper; SEFCU and Stewart's Shops.
Metered parking is available on downtown streets near the Ten Eyck Courtyard. Convenient parking is also available at the Crowne Plaza parking garage (entrance on Pine St.) and the Columbia Street Garage, located two blocks east of the concert site.
