Final Deal Inked to Officially Launch New TVC

Tech Valley Communications Becomes the FIRST Locally Owned, Facilities-based Provider in the Capital Region

Albany, NY – September 3, 2002 - Tech Valley Communications (TVC) today announced that all legal documents are now signed to officially launch the new TVC Albany, Inc., a combination of TVC and Mid-Hudson Communications. The new company will continue to do business as Tech Valley Communications, the first and only locally owned, facilities-based communications provider in the Capital Region.

According to Kevin O’Connor, CEO, “The new TVC offers our customers the advantage of a robust and comprehensive network from Mid-Hudson Communications and a full complement of services from TVC, including a locally based customer service and technical support team, who know this market intimately and can respond quickly to our customers.” He added, “We are here for the long haul and well positioned to grow substantially in the Tech Valley Region and throughout the Northeast.”

The new company has 45 employees, switches at two locations in Albany, and a separate headquarters at 87 State Street. Over the next two years, TVC is expected to double the number of employees.

James Reynolds, who has broad experience in the fields of cable TV, telecommunications and media, is President of the new TVC, and Larry Davis, who has a substantial background in designing software for billing and operational support for independent telephone and cable companies, is Chairman.

About Tech Valley Communications (TVC)
Tech Valley Communications (TVC) is a Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC), formed in 1999. TVC now operates its own switching facilities and an extensive fiber network throughout the Tech Valley Region. Currently TVC employs approximately 60 people at its various locations in downtown Albany. Its employees, senior management, and Board of Directors are all residents of the Tech Valley Region, and are committed to providing the highest quality service and value to its customers.
